Best Mother's Day Gift Ever - Wareham Family Photographer

A while back I received a call from Marcia who wanted to reserve a family session as a gift for her Mom on Mother's Day.  Of course, I thought this was the perfect gift and I was available so I couldn't wait to chat with her about all the details.  Marcia works at my local bank, I was so excited and honored that she reached out to have me capture this special time in her family's history.  She told me that her Mom had an older family portrait hanging on the wall that didn't include her 4 year old daughter.  It definitely was time for an update!
The session was 8 people - Marcia and her family and then her brother and his family.  We started in the studio with several different groupings.  Marcia mentioned that her little mini-me would be a bit shy at first...and she was.  But she looks so grown up here with those beautiful eyes!

It took a little bit for this darling little girl to warm up but by the end of the session she was personality plus! These cousins had so much fun together and encouraged each other to do their best.  Sometimes the eyes say it all!

On this particular day the weather happened to be extraordinary so we ventured to the yard for outside portraits.  Brother and sister...nothing could make Mom happier than a portrait of her kids together, no matter how grown up they are.

Everyone took advantage to have their own little portrait session. Whenever groups are done it's always a plus to do the individual family portraits.   No one ever regrets having their own family done!  I loved how everyone just cuddled up to Mom and these adorable kids were so willing to please.

Whenever I ask couples when the last time they had a portrait of just the two of them they always say "their wedding" and then they always joke that this is the closest they've been to each other in a long time! I chuckle every time I hear this! And then, I feel lucky that we are able to create this special moment in time for them.

Big brother Tyler was so wonderful with his little sister in these childrens portraits.  You could tell he just adored her!

And the same for these two siblings...they must get along beautifully all the time! ;-)

The individual kids portraits were just as fun as the groups.  Sometimes I have to act silly, wear funny hats, make gross noises, use bribery, whatever it takes but I feel I'm able to capture each child's personality as their parents would see them.  It's a huge compliment when parents say "that's so my child".  Samantha was a perfect soon to be teen with a wonderful smile and eyes that light up a room.

Frank was a natural poser! Oh my goodness he was rocking his session with just the cutest faces!

And Madison was as cute as a button with, as I said before, beautiful eyes and a sweet disposition!

Four is such a wonderful age - I just love four!!
There are these huge rocks in the yard and thought them perfect for the kids to climb on and they all loved them too.  This is the family portrait that now hangs in Marcia's Mom's home replacing the one from long ago.  On Mother's Day evening I received the sweetest email from Marcia saying this "Just wanted to let you know that my mother was VERY (her emphasis, not mine) happy with the pictures. She said it's the best gift ever. Haven't seen her cry in ages. Both my parents cried. Mom loved my brother and I. She said she is actually going to show them off at work. Thanks again for making the best Mother's Day ever."
No, Marcia, thank you for the honor and privilege of photographing your family, capturing this one and only moment in time not only for your Mom but for you!

More Twins

Luda called one day as she had seen my work in Dr. Collyer's office in Bourne. She and her husband Franco wanted portraits with their 2 adorable children at their lovely home . Not a problem! I had been on the beach alot this summer so I welcomed the opportunity to work at in a different location. Oh my gosh, they were so cute.
We did all kinds of groupings - all together - then Dad and Mom alone with their little lovebugs.
Good thing we have 2 knees, one for each baby!
After being outside for awhile we opened the front door and let the children inside. This image was taken at the inside stairs right after we opened the door. Look at the red hair on Max. Couldn't be any cuter! I understand he's now had his first haircut.

And Francesca was thinking about whether or not she wanted to come back outside and play. Look at those big beautiful eyes!

I am so lucky to do what I love....photographing beautiful children and their families. Thank you Luda & Franco for the honor of capturing this special moment in time with your precious babies.

The Pezza Family

I had the pleasure of working with Lilly and her family at Quissett (thanks to my dear friend Amy for the referral as she was not feeling well) this past August. It was a lovely evening although a bit buggy. (Luckily a nice woman had bug spray as I had forgotten mine - we would not have made it through the session without it.)
They are an adorable family. The boys was happy and very active!
Joe loves his younger brother Ben. Both boys couldn't wait for the formal photos to be done so they could do what they do best, PLAY! They did not care that their shorts were going to get wet, sat right down and splashed and laughed - I had a ball photographing them! There's something so innocent about children in play - we need to take a lesson.
I love this one - Ben's watching big bro Joe run away. He wasn't far behind! Thanks Lilly and company for a terrific session. You have a very special family.

Hannah and her

...parents, Heather and Peter were another family photographed this August. Hannah was the sweetest little girl, a bit shy and quite comfy in the loving arms of her Mom & Dad.

Hannah was playing a bit of peek-a-boo with me behind this bush. I love the tentative look, she's not really sure what to make of me. It's not always the big smile that makes the best image, but the look in the eyes that tell the story and this one has it for me.

Once we got down to the water she couldn't wait to get wet. I adore this image! "Look, Mom I got my pretty dress wet." And the lighting was amazing by the time we reached the water.

And lastly, Hannah is so happy walking in the water her Dad. Don't you just love how they are both looking at their feet? There's a wonderful feeling with this image that pulls on Mom's heartstrings. Ahhhh...it was a wonderful session!

The Sweetest Family

Awhile ago I posted a sneak peek of Jenn & Jonathan but now have a few more that must be shown. I have had the pleasure of photographing this family three times now and they are all adorable! Ryan was about 9 months old when we first met. Now he is the 4 year old big brother to Jonathan, born in April of this year. He is so loving and protective of his baby bro.

Look how much Dad, Mike, adores his new baby boy. His soft skin and baby smell - just makes you want to cuddle all day.

And Mom, Jenn, has found out that she has more than enough love for both of her adorable boys.

Jonathan was a delight to photograph (he takes after his big brother) and is quite content to stay in the secure comfort of his daddy's arms.

Thanks again for the pleasure of seeing you all and for the privilege of photographing such precious moments with your growing family. Will see you soon! Much baby love, susan

A Family by Design

Recently I had the great pleasure of photographing David, Leslie, Leila, Craig, Deena, Miles and Tessie at Nobska Beach. Two families that consider themselves one - they've been vacationing together in Woods Hole for about 18 years. The kids were little and played on Nobska Beach year after year. Not only do they vacation together but spend holidays, birthdays, just regular days enjoying each other's company. David & Leslie were high school sweethearts. You could tell they still truly enjoy each other's company. And their daughter, Leila, so sweet and beautiful. She will be off to college this September, Mt. Holyoke as a matter of fact, to study environmental science. She also loves photography and will study that too! You could feel the love between Craig & Deena too. Craig loves laughing Deena - they will miss their son Miles, who is handsome and kind, when he goes off to college in Ohio. Can't you tell Mom loves her boy! Miles will be studying English once he gets to college. There's a story about the beer can too. It has been accompanying them on vacation and other places for a long, long time. It was a wonderful session and they all were such great fun. The session ended with them singing - which always brings joy to my heart (I can't sing but do anyway)! I won't soon forget this amazing family. They are filled with love for each other, you could feel it! Thank you all for allowing me to share in this special moment in time.

The Paulson Family - A family celebration

Richard & Marilyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year and were in East Dennis with their family on vacation in June. I had the pleasure of photographing the family and spending some time with them. What a wonderful group of people - they were visiting from Ohio but had spent many summers on the Cape visiting relatives. It was a great evening for a session at Cold Storage Beach in East Dennis. The small ones, Jack and his little sister Kate were fabulous. Jack brought his own camera, underwater camera ;-) and took some pictures of me while I was taking pictures of him. They were adorable. Erin thanked me for a great session and experience but really I'd like to thank them for the privilege of photographing such a wonderful family. I love the image of Marilyn looking at Richard, still with loving eyes after 50 years!

The Bray Family

Thank you to the Bray Family for a wonderful fun session at Swifts Beach in Wareham recently! Louise (one of 5 siblings) arranged the session with me as some of her siblings and their families were coming to town from Kentucky, New York & oh yeah, Attleboro! They were such great people to work with and the kids were gorgeous, all of them. I had to don a silly, crazy hat (and do other stuff) to get such a laugh from the kids but I didn't mind one bit. The sun was playing hide-n-seek with the clouds but the light was terrific. I really love the lighting on the image of the 5 siblings - I love the whole feel of it - family is what's most important. Thanks Louise and company for a great session. It was a pleasure working with you.

The Rooney Family

Thank you to the Rooney family for the honor of photographing your families. We had such a fun time! Gabrielle & Fergus along with their 2 girls Sophia & Lucia were in from Chicago and Fergus' brother Steven, his wife Maura and their 3 girls Hannah, Grace & Sarah were in from Ireland. They enjoyed 2 weeks in Onset at the lovely Onset Village Inn right across from the beach. It was a breezy Friday evening but that didn't matter as the cousins had such a fun time playing. Aren't they so cute? Those Irish curls and all of the girls had beautiful eyes! Thanks again for a fun night - it was so nice to work with you!
