and it's quiet here now. I've been awake since 6:14 a.m. and I can't hear any traffic in the distance, no barking dog next door. That's one of the things I love about Christmas, the world seems to stop for a moment - all is calm. The wind has died down and the heavy rain in the night has washed away alot of the snow. We'll be going to my brother's house soon to watch our niece Shelby open her gifts. She's 13 now and still excited about the anticipation of opening her presents. I miss the days when Jenn was that young and eager to open the presents Santa left for her. Jenn's favorite ritual of our Christmas mornings was to open her stocking first, "Mom, can I open my stocking now"? Now, we'll see her on Saturday but I long for those early mornings and the joy of watching her sit in her jammies opening her stocking.
