Blue Ribbons

On the weekend of February 21-22, I headed to Natick MA for the annual Professional Photographers of Massachusetts convention. It is always a treat to attend as there is much to learn from other professional photographers. I started the weekend attending a workshop on studio lighting, then on Saturday took a 3 hour seminar on children that was great because it included helpful tips on capturing expressions from children and hints on keeping them still for more than a minute! But, also on Saturday was the annual print competition. I have entered prints for several years now as this can be quite a learning experience in itself. The process really helps make me a better photographer. The goal is to get blue ribbons and yes, oh yes, I received 2! Not only do you submit portraits but you need to title them as well. That is the hardest part as a bad title can decrease your score. The images below were from client sessions this past year and I am just so thrilled to share this news with you, dear readers.

So, a very big thank you to Jenn and Jonathan for their portrait "A Mother's Dream"

and to Heather & Peter for their daughter Hannah's portrait "Summer Blues". It was truly a pleasure working with you all.

And I can't forget to send another big thank you to Tony, Jenn, Jo, Garrett, Ruey and Steve-o for helping pick the titles! It was a fun weekend and I look forward to sharing all I've learned with you this year.
